Detailed Overview

The Bowflex LateralX LX5 is a new style of fitness machine that’s made to improve your movement. Like an elliptical trainer it supports low-impact exercise, but the LX5 lets you move in different ways. Any trainee can quickly see and feel the effects.

How it Works: A Bowflex LateralX looks similar to a standing elliptical with moving arm bars. The series is named for the lateral or side-to-side motion that the machines allow, and the Bowflex LX5 is the only model with adjustable lateral stride. It also lets you stand, squat, push and pull. Ten resistance levels are available. These range from light to very strong.

To optimize your exercise time, Bowflex has 30 videos available on a free LateralX app for Android and iOS devices. Additionally nine training programs and quick-start manual mode are built into the LX5 console.

The Bottom Line

Bowflex is popular for offering new ways to exercise at home. The LateralX is their major innovation for 2018, and the LX5 is the top model. This fitness machine can accommodate all skill levels, but in our review it’s best for experienced elliptical users seeking new thrills. Be sure to add an extended warranty, as the free warranty is rather limited.

Hello I am interested in this machine I see it says it has adjustable lateral stride which I like but does it have adjustable stride front to back also?

Hi Mike, Thanks for the question! I'm afraid that the LateralX LX5 does not have an adjustable (front-to-back). Does your question have to do with any type of height restriction? If so, the bowflex M6 - https://www.ellipticalreviews.com/bowflex/max-trainer-m6/ has a great front-back motion and has a more natural feel. I am 6'1 and sometimes I feel like the ellipticals can be a little cramped! Hope this helps!
