Detailed Overview

Editors note: “Smooth’s new entry level model in their line of front drive elliptical trainers offer impressive console options and one of the heaviest flywheels on the market for an incredibly smooth and natural feel.”

Smooth Fitness’s RE 11.35 elliptical trainer is the entry level model in Smooth’s new line (RE 11.35, RE 11.55, RE 13.75, RE 13.95) of front drive elliptical trainers for 2015. For just $799, this trainer impresses from the impressive console offerings to the powerfully reliable drive system. And this brand does not compromise durability for these features.

When it comes to the design, the RE 11.35 is a front drive trainer, meaning the powerful 30 pound flywheel (which is basically the motor on an elliptical trainer) is to the front of the machine, centering the user’s weight just behind the flywheel. This design is more compact and reliable than rear drive trainers, but some people do experience back pain as it causes the user to lean forward a bit more than other designs. In addition to this heavy flywheel, which makes for a very smooth and quiet stride, this model has a 350 pound weight capacity and is designed with Silent Magnet Resistance (SMR) technology for incredibly quiet operation. Most of Smooth’s elliptical trainers are designed with this technology and it’s a favorite feature by many consumers who need a quiet and smooth operating trainer for residential use.

Adjustable features are few on this trainer, but that doesn’t mean that this model can’t be easily adaptable and used by multiple people in the same household. With a power adjustable stride of 20 to 22 inches and 24 digital resistance levels to choose from, this model can be used by users of most heights and weights, offering a little something for everyone no matter the goal.

Coming to the console, this model features a 7 inch full-color touchscreen display, Android powered browser, 30 built-in workout programs and iFit® compatibility for excellent entertainment and goal tracking options. The console also features the basics like a fan, water bottle holder and iPod compatible audio center, along with one touch and Quick Incline™ controls right on the console for fast and efficient changes while working out.
