The new Navarre Pilot Elliptical is the middle model in Yowza Fitness’ impressive CardioSure line of rear drive cross-trainers. Full price is $1999 but the Navarre Pilot is now on sale for $1499 with your choice of a FitBit or expedited delivery included. Regardless of your height — short, average or tall — it’s a comfortable total-body trainer for building strength, defining lean muscle, and quickly burning calories while putting minimal pressure on your joints and ligaments. Three features in particular can help you target-tone the major muscle groups: an 18″-to-30″ adjustable stride, many incline settings up to 60%, and dual-action handlebars. Additional features such as reversible pedal motion, heart rate control, and a sound system for MP3s contribute to the new Navarre Pilot’s exceptional value.

A top selling point for this elliptical is its generous stride range. With quick electronic adjustment, the pedal paths can be adjusted from 18″ to 30″, mostly in one-inch increments but with occasional two-inch jumps at the higher end. These options ensure that the Navarre Pilot can comfortably fit people of all heights for traditional elliptical training, plus the machine can support the longer strides used in jogging — thus making the Navarre Pilot Elliptical a great low-impact alternative to treadmills. Furthermore its pedals can be used on an incline for excellent workout variation. The incline can be shallow, but the maximum setting of 60% is the steepest of any elliptical trainer or treadmill on the market. [Note: Yowza’s website lists the Navarre Pilot maximum stride as 26″ and the maximum incline as 35%, but sales reps state that 30″ and 60% are the actual specs.]

Upper-body toning on the Navarre Pilot is supported with moving handlebars that give light resistance. These support different gripping positions to promote special focus on the deltoids, triceps and biceps. Simpler ellipticals only support one gripping position.

For workout support the Navarre Pilot Elliptical has an LED monitor with nine preset programs and three customizable programs. Workout program examples are Target Time, Target Distance, Target Calories, Interval, and Fat Burning. Programming also lets the elliptical respond to the trainee’s heart rate to help ensure a constant challenge level. Heart rate can be monitored with built-in contact sensors or with a wireless chest strap (sold separately). Nine users can save their profiles.

Special features on the console include a water bottle holder, a three-speed fan, an MP3 player port, speakers and a secure holder for a tablet computer.

Finally, the Navarre Pilot Elliptical warranty package is best-in-class. It provides lifetime coverage on the frame and magnetic braking system, five years of coverage on parts and electronics, and two years of service. Labor is provided in-home.
